Justin is happy to work with you to set up an internship or residency that is right for you. Goshen and the surrounding region is a great place for ceramics and other fine craft. The cost of living is low, and access to other midwestern cities is relatively easy. Part-time or seasonal jobs and small apartments can be easily arranged. Past Interns have arranged their own housing and part time jobs relatively easily.

Our friends at Clay Bottom Farms have also hosted interns/resident artists in partnership with us. They can provide lodging in exchange for some regular farm work. In addition, they have a small clay studio and wood/gas kiln built by former Rothshank interns on site at the farm.

You will have access to Justin's clay studio which is well equipped with kilns, wheels, and other tools and materials in exchange for work around the studio and kiln site.

You can learn about ceramic decals, wood firing, running a small business, and many other skills to help prepare you for future work in the craft field.

Past resident artists have spent around 3 months to 1 year in Goshen working with Justin. I request a minimum stay of 2 months. Historic Goshen in a blossoming art and craft community.

Summer 2010 interns Zach Tate and Craig Hartenberger, along with Justin, co-wrote an article for Studio Potter Magazine reflecting on their experience at Rothshank Artworks, Clay Bottom Farm, and the city of Goshen. Zach, Craig, and Justin also presented a panel discussion about education outside the formal classroom during NCECA 2011 in Tampa.

	Zach Tate is a ceramic artist from southern Missouri. He received his B.F.A. in ceramics from Missouri State University in the fall of 2008. Currently he is an MFA candidate at Texas Tech University. In the two year gap between academia, Zach spent time traveling and doing residencies in Taiwan, Denmark, and the US. He has also been involved in more than 25 exhibitions since 2008 that range from national, international, juried, group, and solo. Zach was a resident during Summer 2010. www.zachtateclayworks.com
	Craig Hartenberger is a third year BFA student at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. He plans to pursue his MFA in ceramics and hopes to teach at the university level. He has been involved in several kiln building projects and is currently designing and building a smokeless wood kiln on the campus of Missouri State. 	Ryan Taylor was a resident during the summer of 2011 and is a recent graduate from Central Michigan University with his BFA in Ceramics. During his time at CMU he taught at a small pottery studio in Midland Michigan and has exhibited in several shows in mid Michigan area. He focuses on making large scale composite pots. Ryan plans on apprenticing under a production potter before he opens his own studio/gallery. www.rtceramics.com
	Meghan Borland is from the middle of a giant mitten surrounded by five pristine bodies of water. She received her BFA in ceramics from Central Michigan University spring 2012. During this time she has been involved with the Mid Michigan Art Reach and other community art organizations. She has exhibited her work in several shows around the region.
