Read the research that was done for the Union Project by a group of CMU graduate students in 2005. This research was initiated to investigate cooperative studio models around the country in order to identify best practices for opening a clay studio at Union Project. In 2008 I presented a summary and update of this research at the NCECA conference. You can also read an article that  I wrote for Ceramics Monthly that summarizes the research.
